Book Review - Incarceron

Author : Catherine Fisher
Series : Incarceron, #1

Hardcover : 464 pages
ISBN : 0803733968
(ISBN13: 9780803733961)
My Rating : ★★★★★

Book Discription : Incarceron -- a futuristic prison, sealed from view, where the descendants of the original prisoners live in a dark world torn by rivalry and savagery. It is a terrifying mix of high technology -- a living building which pervades the novel as an ever-watchful, ever-vengeful character, and a typical medieval torture chamber -- chains, great halls, dungeons.

A young prisoner, Finn, has haunting visions of an earlier life, and cannot believe he was born here and has always been here. In the outer world, Claudia, daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, is trapped in her own form of prison -- a futuristic world constructed beautifully to look like a past era, an imminent marriage she dreads. She knows nothing of Incarceron, except that it exists.

My Thoughts : I'd give it ten stars if I could !

This book is just marvelous, devine and so skillfully written.

It is without a doubt one of the best book I've read this year, and perhaps for a while.
It tastes like cream chocolate dipped roast chicken at first and framboise filled dark chocolate at the end. As you might have guessed, it is very dark and fattening but sinfully delicious.
I tend to guess well at what's going to happen next when reading a book, but this was so out of my reach, it gave me goosebumps and chilled my whole body from time to time.

There's not much explanation at the back cover of this book, and I must say that I prefer it that way. I do recommende this book to those who has time (since it's not a fast read, although very hard to let go once started) and who seeks a great fantasy.
It's a thriller, mystery and science fiction all combined with a hint of politics, friendship, and love.

This book is exceptional and I just can't wait for the second book.
